Principal's Message
Hey there Husky Nation,
The 2026-2027 School Year will be my 6th year as Principal of Hanford West.
Hanford West has so much to offer all of our educational partners throughout the year.
Our Continued Focus for the 2026-2027 School Year:
WASC Goal: Hanford West staff needs to agree on Student Learning Outcomes that align with “The Husky Way” to ensure the SLOs are measurable and uniformly implemented throughout the school environment.
Update on Goal: Hanford West agreed on Student Learning Outcomes supported by “The Husky Way” and used 25-26 data as a baseline to set goals for the 26-27 school year.
A Husky arrives ready to learn as measured by: 90% attendance or more, 6 tardies or less, each grading period.
A Husky prioritizes learning over distractions as measured by cell phone violations in AERIES.
A Husky speaks and listens respectfully, considering their impact on others as measured by AERIES entries for disrespect.
A Husky shows pride in our campus by working together to keep our house clean, as measured by the number of students assigned to campus beautification for leaving a mess.
A Husky manages time and seeks help when needed, as measured by Zero Hour and LC Tutoring attendance and missing assignments in AERIES.
A Husky values their physical and mental well-being, as measured by Den Visits, Wellness Center Visits, referrals to At-Promise for Social-Emotional, Drug and Alcohol Program, and violations.
Learning by Doing Goal: Clear purpose and priorities that have been effectively communicated to all educational partners. When staff are asked what HW’s purpose is and their priorities, they can clearly articulate specifics. Align our mission with the District's.
Update on Goal: This past year, we have spent educating and assessing the staff on our Mission and Vision, as well as creating visuals and sharing them with parents and students.
MTSS: Continue to look at data, refine processes, and target interventions.
Update on Goal: We want to share data and see how we have been supporting students. See below.
Data Driven Decisions: Focusing on gathering data, reviewing it, analyzing it, and making decisions because of it.
Update on Goal: In both the English and Math departments, we made great gains on our state test. We are implementing ICAs in both English and math to get more concrete, proactive information that we can target support and instruction before the state assessment. This is trickling down to our 9th- and 10th-graders as well.
